In 2020, Turkestan received a record amount of investment in construction – about 566 billion tenge. This is almost twice as much as a year earlier. About half of these funds are budgetary. The other half is private investment attracted through the creation of special economic zones (SEZs) in Turkestan. SEZ participants are exempt from property tax, corporate income, and land taxes. Investors have zero land rent, they are not charged customs duty and VAT on imported goods….
